This prequel to Aristophanes’ Lysistrata tells of an aristocratic Athenian matron who is crushed by fateful events and gradually
transformed into the most celebrated peace activist of the ancient world. Lysistrata Unbound is written by Award-winning playwright
Eduardo Machado, and is directed by John Farmanesh-Bocca.
The original play, Lysistrata, describes what happened before Athenian women went on a sex strike to halt the Peloponnesian War.
