Ghost Whisperer, Season Two -- The Curse of the Ninth A rock star, Brandon Roth, who believes he has been cursed, is being terrorized by his father's ghost. Norbert plays the ghostly Patrick Roth, a classical composer who died about a year previously. Patrick was a professor and composer who died before his tenth work was completed. (Legend has it that many of the great composers died after completing nine symphonies.) What Brandon doesn't realize is that the ghost of a friend and fellow musician who died about the same time, is also haunting him and trying to keep his father's ghost from contacting him. Patrick appears to Melinda who helps him fight the other ghost that is draining his strength. When she first encounters Patrick, Melinda believes that he wants Brandon to complete his symphony. Patrick tells her that he wants him to understand that he is sorry for being so hard on him and not accepting his music and talent when he called it a waste of classical training. He makes sure that she also understand that it's not his tenth symphony he wants Brandon to complete, it's the unreleased tenth track on his son's CD that he wants to hear. With Melinda helping Patrick accept his son's rock music, he will be free to complete his journey to the other side in peace. Deutschlandlied -- a 1996 Mini Series This website is presented as a tribute/fansite only and is not officially affiliated in any way with Mr. Weisser. There is no personal information about or contact information for him posted here. Melinda takes the ghost of Patrick to his son's concert to hear him play. Patrick realizes how wrong he was to criticize his son's talent and appreciates the gift he has. When he sees a light telling him it's time to cross over to the other side, he becomes so overwhelmed with emotion and wishes he doesn't have to leave so soon.
Melinda searches for information on Patrick and finds his unfinished symphony. She borrows it so she can take it to Brandon to have him complete it. As soon as he starts to play, his father's ghost appears.
Brandon shares a memory with Melinda where one day his father came into his room and told his Jared and another friend to leave since he didn't approve of them. Patrick tells him he is wasting his time with his guitar and that all of his hours of musical training have proven to be worthless. Tired of fighting the other ghost, Patrick's energy is nearly exhausted. Melinda deals with the other ghost so Patrick is free to communicate with Brandon. He tells him he is sorry and asks to hear him play his music. Norbert has the part of an American Lieutenant Chuccle, in this three-part mini series. The character Norbert plays in this feature is without any redeeming characteristic whatsoever. He plays the part very well, but is not likable in the least. One of the reasons I wanted to include this on the website was for that very reason -- while Norbert has played a lot of villains, this one has a different twist to it and it adds a completely new dimension to the other things that are featured here -- this guy is just a jerk -- plain and simple. This character demonstrates just how very versatile he is as an actor. I have had this clip for a couple years now, but just recently found enough background material on the series to write a synopsis. The story takes place in the fictional town of King Bruck during post-war Germany while the Americans were conducting the denazification of the country. Another GI, a black Private by the name of George, has befriended a German family, especially their daughter Betty. George also plays clarinet in a band that performs at a local bar that is frequented by the American servicemen. Betty is rather fond of George and has been seen keeping company with him. This rankles an obnoxious and drunk Lt. Chuccle, who is flirting with her and trying to get her to dance with him. She tries to ignore him, but he grabs her and forces her to dance with him. The full synopsis is available here. I wrote the one for this site to specifically deal with Norbert's character, but there is a lot more of the story available on this website. (Once on this site, scroll down to the features from 1996, where there are five sections dealing with this mini series. The site is in German, but I always find the Google translation tools very helpful.) George is visibly upset, but holds back from doing anything since Chuccle outranks him. Chuddle further humiliates Betty by ripping her dress open as he grabs her, followed by pouring a Coke over her head, all the while taunting George as he manhandles her. When Betty tries to escape, Chuccle grabs her again, this time taking her by her waist and tossing her up under his arm. He parades her around the room, offering her up to any interested serviceman. George can take it no more and comes to Betty's rescue. He slashes Chuccle's arm with a small knife causing Chuccle to attack him, but at least Betty is free from his completely humiliating clutches. Additional cast members include: Ulli Phillip as Anna Mahlmann Heimo Ferch as Hanno Julia Brendler as Betty David Ramsey as George
